Valentines day

Here is what the house looks like this week.

It has been a busy week here, with electricians, framers, painter, and roofers running around.  We are slowly getting the siding on and the painter has started to stain the upper gables, and paint the primer on the house.    The electricians are almost done and the roofers are just getting started.  They are actually forming the roof on site since I am putting a metal roof on.  It is very interesting to watch them take a plain sheet of metal and form it into a standing metal seam roof.

Some very delicious valentines donuts that I saw the other day.  Of course I had to have one.   We are waiting to go out tomorrow night for dinner, since in a college town you would have a hard time getting reservations on Valentines Day.
A nice walk in the woods.  The weather has been warm  in the upper 70's and if this is what we have now,  I don't want to see what the weather will be like in July.    I have been working on rearranging the studio, and doing some water color paintings.  Just relaxing before I take a well deserved vacation for a week.   I am going to leave the husband in charge of everything and just run away for a week.

Well,  that's all the news from the south,
Happy" farming" to all the farm girl sisters out there.
See you next week. down on the farm.

More fruit

Picking all the oranges off the tree

Well,  after getting all the oranges picked off the tree and the Lemons, which are the size of grapefruit.   I made two more batches of marmalade, and still have leftover oranges.  The lemons I juice and freeze.  They are great to make lemonade or to use in marinades for meat.

I have started getting the potatoes in for next year, and have all the seeds ready for planting in the garden when I know we will not get a hard freeze.  It is supposed to get cold again this weekend. ( down into the 30s).  I know for some of you that is not cold,  but for here it is.

The siding is going up on the house and garage. and the painter is due to come this next week and start the outside.  Electric is going in, and plumbing, the roofer should be here in a week and the air conditioner people should also be here soon,  Waiting on an estimate for the foam insulation. and then that will go in.   Drywall after that and then counters and the final touches.   Sometime soon this house should be finished.

Those are actually white pelicans on the log.   There were about 50 of them in that pond today.  I wish I could have gotten a better photo of them.

A swan egg from a friend of mine,  thought she looked really pretty.
