Yum, Marmalade!!!!

The first of many jars of Orange marmalade.

I got into the house and did some work this week.  Ordered some supplies for some outstanding projects  and made some jam.  Did some painting and just really cleaned up the house.   Even sealed some holes so that I have no surprise visitors coming in.

Still working on getting the Tin Lizzy back up and running.  The new motor got put in and the other component, now I need to calibrate the machine and I think I will be fine.  I have several quilts to work on again and really want to get them finished.  I found several  videos on operating the Lizzy so I will be checking them out this week also.

Up dated photo on the new house

As you can see,  the windows are in now and the doors were going in today.  We have the cedar shakes for the upstairs on the outside and some of the lap siding for the garage.  We also have the trex wood for the decks and  the tongue and groove paneling for the tops of the decks.   So another week of the guys working on the house.

The azaleas are blooming like crazy and look so pretty.  the red buds are also blooming.  so I think that spring is almost here.   The horse is a painting that I did.

Well,  that's all the news from the south,

A very busy Week

The inside of my workshop with the new ceiling up

Well,  what a week.  They have been working on the house and they even managed to get my ceiling up in my workshop.  It is really nice to have it done.  and now I have been rearranging the items to make it more workable and get the things that need to go to the house ready to go ( when it is finished)   My DH  made me a wonderful cutting table which is so much easier to use then the kitchen table.   I have several quilts to work on now,  and think I might actually get them done.

I put up several quart bags of sweet potato fries since I needed to do something with all those potatoes.   This way we will still be eating them for the next few months.   We saved lots of tiny ones to replant in the garden in another month.  Hopefully we will have another big crop for next year.

Swinging the rafters in and the top floor almost complete.
They are a bit further along now and I think we are almost ready to call for an inspection.  Then we get to get the windows and siding on as well as all the stuff fore the inside.

Saw this and thought it was a cute idea.

Lots of Potatoes

                                                     Sweet Potatoe Harvest this year.

Well,  a very busy week,  We harvested all the sweet potatoes, and then turned over all the beds and added some Black Kow.  We still have onions in and all the herbs.  I added some lavender plants and some sage.  The weather has been warm so it is tempting to plant,  but I will hold off.  We also moved the green house out to the farm and set it up,  I now have a planting table and a large planting rack, ready to go.

The house is progressing,  the roof is actually going up and should be done by the end of the week.  Then an inspection and then the electric, plumbing and A/C goes in.

Azaleas  in bloom.

Two more quilts.  Maggies First Dance, and the floral Swap from MJF.

Second Floor going up

Looking at the front of the house,  with the start of the second floor going up

It has been a busy week so far, with lots of work being done on the house and on the farm.  We have been working of getting the fire lanes done and still have lots of fences to repair,  Mostly posts that have rotted out. and wood to finish cutting up from trees that have fallen.  We are also getting two blinds built for photos and hunting  and my barn/studio is getting a ceiling put in.  We are also starting to move some stuff to the farm.  Tomarrow we are going to move some of the plants that I want to keep out to the farm as well as the greenhouse.

It is time to get the fruit off the tree and make some marmalade as well as some juice and eat some.   The poor tree is about to break from the weight of the fruit.   We had an exceptionally good crop this year,  but I need to prune the tree back so I doubt we will get as much next year.   These are really sweet this year too.
Nice photo of the moon tonight which I took while walking the dogs.    got home late because I was working on a quilt trying to get it finished up.  I finally got a dry-erase board in the studio so that I can keep up with everything I need to get done.  It is already full.

A New Year.

Sunrise on Jan 1,  going across Paynes Prairie

It seems that this year is getting off to a good start,   We have been busy working on the fire lanes around the fences and have found lots of downed trees.   Most will make good fire wood so not all is lost.  There are lots of new little saplings growing to take their place and it is interesting to see life recycling itself.

I got a few neat photos of some tree fungus while we were working.   I love  seeing the old trees decay and go back to the earth.

Things have been moving very well on the house.  Hopefully we will see the second story this week.  The rooms look small due to all the lumber holding up the walls.  We now have all the flooring and appliances and bath rooms bought and are eagerly waiting to get them in place.
